NC Mask update

Update 5/17/21: According to NC Executive Order 215 here, the CDC requires healthcare workers and healthcare settings to continue mask wearing. The CDC also lists massage therapy among the healthcare settings covered by this requirement. Accordingly, the NC Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy informed us that masks are still required in our clinics. Essential Therapy, the owner, and the therapists wholeheartedly agree with these requirements and will follow the directives as issued.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION OF THE SESSION AND THE CHARGE OF A 50% NO SHOW/ LATE CANCEL FEE TO BE PAID BEFORE THE NEXT SESSION IS BOOKED.

Despite the Governor’s announcement, we will be continuing to require masks for your treatments for the time being. After we have reviewed therapist concerns, community spread numbers, and guidance from our professional boards, we will update our policies to reflect our best understanding.

There is still substantial spread in Mecklenburg County (see below 5/14/20), and the nature of our business makes our therapists extremely vulnerable to accidental exposure. We will not be risking our health or yours until the CDC recommendations find that our county and state are at limited risk of transmission in a setting such as massage.

Want to help move us towards maskless massage faster? Get your vaccine. We have only about 35% of people fully vaccinated, but herd immunity will require an estimated 75-80% vaccination, and we already have a portion of the population who may not be able to receive them because of health concerns specific to vaccinations. Help them be safer by scheduling your vaccination today here.

You can see below how much vaccinations have dropped off in the past few weeks. They are safe and effective, and will get us back to normal the fastest way possible. Have questions or concerns? Please reach out to us! Becca has been researching the vaccines for her own peace of mind and is happy to help share her education.
